De Swinkelsche is a course whose design is based on the classic principles of strategic design.

Built on the sandbelt of the Southern Netherlands and enclosed on three sides by pine and oak forests, wide fairways house rough edged bunkers with large areas of closely mown grass surrounding large, undulating greens.

The combination of pure sand and a low groundwater table provided Frank with the perfect arena on which to demonstrate his skills. Five holes are carved out of existing forests, wending their way through natural landforms. Earthworks on the remainder of the course allowed for the restoration of the heathland landscape that had occupied the site until the early 20th century.

Its ranking has steadily risen and is now rated #77 in Continental Europe by Golf World magazine.
